Partnering with nonprofit organizations to build clarity, confidence, and systems that last, with intention, strategy, and a little real talk.
Years in Arts Leadership
Core Service Pillars
Dira Professional Development partners with people and organizations to identify, implement, and navigate change so they can increase their impact and sustainability within the arts ecosystem.
Our work is grounded in a people-centered approach to organizational and professional development. We believe that generating equitable and sustainable change is created when the work is guided by a compass, not a clock.
Dr. Kheli believes the future of leadership is personal, and she's here to partner with you to build it through intention, clarity, and a little bit of real talk. As the Principal and Founder of Dira Professional Development, she collaborates with nonprofit organizations to get their leadership, governance, and operations in shape, without the drama, the jargon, or the endless "we should probably talk about this" meetings.
Her superpower is translating disorganized or chaotic organizational realities into clear, practical plans that actually work. She's a leadership coach, a strategy nerd, and a community-centered programming enthusiast. She helps teams align their internal culture with their public identity, because your brand should feel like you, not like a polished version of you that only shows up for special occasions.
Dr. Kheli is a strategic consultant working at the intersection of governance, finance, and organizational culture. With a highly integrative and intuitive approach, she helps nonprofits and cultural institutions identify structural challenges, clarify decision-making, and build systems that support long-term sustainability and mission alignment.
Policies matter, but they're not the full story. I focus on how decisions are made, how information and authority flows, and how work gets done when the organization is under pressure. That's the source of true institutional strength.
This isn't about pointing out what you're doing wrong. It's about helping you build clarity, alignment, and systems that make your organization stronger and your team less stretched. The goal isn't to "identify problems," it's to build systems that prevent them.
Stewardship isn't a buzzword. It's a practice. And it's only effective when it's supported by clear governance, strong systems, and shared understanding.
You'll get a clear picture of what's working, what isn't, and what needs to shift, along with practical, realistic recommendations that fit your structure and capacity.
Every organization is different. Your culture, your challenges, and your goals matter. My work is tailored to your context, designed to strengthen governance and operations in a way that fits your institution.
Because when clarity, alignment, and stewardship are working together, everything becomes possible. You don't just get a report. You get a stronger, more sustainable organization, and someone grounded, honest, and genuinely invested in your mission. That's the Dira difference.
Kheli gets people. She asks great questions that always get to the heart of any issue. Because she has been at the helm of arts organizations, her understanding of capacity building is infused with compassion and informed by the realities of practice.
Dr. Kheli Willetts is a visionary! I truly would not be where I am in my career today without her servant leadership. Her exceptional knowledge and expertise, along with her innate ability to inspire, encourage, and empower is what separates the good from the great leaders.
Kheli is unique in her skills and experience: she contains such breadth of knowledge and resources in the Arts. She has been instrumental in creation and sustainability of our Foundation, guiding us in governance policies, strategic planning and so much more.
The woman I have come to know and trust with my vision, and creative work is someone who is driven by a relentless passion to inform ordinary folk about the brilliance which lies in their history, in education, in the arts and in culture. There are two types of people who are crucial to building a successful project when working with a visionary like myself, a problem-solver and a problem-seeker. Kheli is both in the most eloquent way, as her professional guidance has offered me a foundation upon which to scale my business. At the core of it all, she understands and sees the vision, what is at stake and what must be protected to evolve successfully and with grace.
We've been working together since 2022, and honestly, she has become one of those rare partners you don't know how you functioned without. She helped us build stronger policies, sharpen our hiring process, and bring real structure to how we develop our team. What I appreciate most is how she shows up for the people — the kind of investment that actually builds culture, not just compliance. Dr. Kheli knows how to meet an organization exactly where it is while pushing it toward where it needs to go.
Kheli led a team-building session for our staff retreat and delivered exactly what we needed but also infused the experience with her breadth of experience and understanding. She has a special ability to bring people together authentically, and our team left more connected because of her.
